Editorial policy
Active Music Spotlight aims to make music writing clear, accurate and independent. We distinguish description from interpretation and correct material errors openly.
Accuracy and interpretation
We check names, terminology and factual statements before publication, using suitable sources where needed. Listening observations and interpretations are presented as readings, not universal facts. We avoid unsupported claims and make uncertainty clear when it matters.
Independence
Editorial decisions are made for readers and are not bought through a placement or partnership. Any commercial relationship must not determine our conclusions or be presented as independent editorial coverage.
Corrections
If you find a factual error or unclear passage, contact us with the article title and the detail in question. We review specific reports and amend verified errors; significant changes are identified where appropriate.
Partner material and illustrations
Paid or partner material is clearly labelled as such and kept distinct from independent editorial coverage. Some illustrations may be AI-generated; where relevant, they are identified so readers can distinguish illustrative imagery from documentary material.
A song rewards a closer listen
We look at musical choices one at a time, so you can hear how they work without needing formal training or a score.
